Hola

Hello I'm Sebastian Arrua.

After 14 years of international traveling to teach and perform, I chose New Zealand as my base and my home. My passion for tango has taken me around the world, and now, it is my desire to share this love for tango with everyone in the country. New Zealand's vibrant culture and warm community have inspired me to create a space where we can all experience the joy and beauty of tango together.

Le me share with you more about my career...

Sebastian Arrua

I am deeply connected to the cultural tradition of Tango, having lived and breathed this dance from an early age, thanks to my father. Growing up in Buenos Aires, I took my first steps as a folkloric dancer at eight and graduated from the renowned “Escuela Nacional de Danzas de Buenos Aires” by eighteen. Since then, I’ve dedicated myself to sharing my vision of tango both as a professional dancer and teacher.

For me, Tango is more than a passion or heritage; it is the artistic expression of the deep connection between oneself and another. This elegant dialogue during the dance creates unique moments that build the spirit of an authentic milonga. As a teacher, I focus on the mechanics of movement to facilitate connections with partners, the music, and the broader community. Beyond technique, the foundation and soul of my dancing is fluidity.

My style is based on salon technique, influenced by a variety of sources and styles. In my teaching, I provide not only the keys to mastering technique but also guide students through the cultural background of Tango. This approach fosters personal expression, allowing students to shape their dance according to their own vision.

I'm also the head director of BA. Tango Evolution since 2015. The biggest and most successful intensive tango training in Buenos Aires where we receive students from all over the world.

As a professional dancer, I have performed in Argentina’s most illustrious theatres, including Teatro Colón. My international career began in 2010, teaching and performing worldwide in over 30 countries, especially in Europe, Oceania, and North America.
